Abstract
The Metaverse is a term that has been used to describe a virtual reality space where users can interact with a computer-generated environment and with other users in real-time. This concept has been around for decades, but recent advancements in technology have made it a more tangible reality. The Metaverse has the potential to be a transformative instrument for businesses looking to undergo digital transformation. This thesis aims to explore how businesses can use the Metaverse to transform digitally. For the purpose of answering this question a literature review is conducted pertaining to the subjects of Digital Transformation, the Metaverse in business and Immersive technologies. With the foundation of the literature established a theoretical framework is proposed. Additionally, qualitative data is gathered via interviews with industry experts and is analyzed to. The analysis of the data confirms the hypotheses that key factors correspond to the factors of the framework and that challenges represent the pitfalls of the same factors.
