Abstract

Employees are the running engine of any corporation. The importance of their mental condition can not be undermined as their cognitive capabilities may impact the outcome of their work. With tremendous change to working culture, fueled by the Covid-19 pandemic and technological revolutions, the minds of employees haven't had the time to adapt to that yet. Mindfulness based interventions (MBI) are exercises utilized frequently in short breaks, aiming to train mindfulness. These interventions have been developed to train individuals and incorporate mindfulness training into daily life. With the apparent potential of MBIs, its connection and impact on work performance has been the focal point of this paper. An experiment was executed testing the impact of MBIs on employees' work performance. The findings of the experiment suggest that some cognitive capabilities can be enhanced by MBIs, such as response inhibition, while in terms of attention no significance was able to be detected. This study contributes to academic research by providing experimental examples of the impacts of MBIs on employees' work performances, providing essential practical insights. For employees and their employers the findings show the benefits of utilizing MBIs at the workplace.
