Student thesis: Master thesis

Abstract

Purpose: This study investigates the use of snus among players in Denmark's top football leagues, aiming to understand not only the health consequences but also the attitude dimensions of snus use among the players.

Methodology: Employing a quantitative methodology, the research captures the affect, behaviour, and cognition associated with snus use among the football players. Data were gathered through structured questionnaires and analyzed using SPSS to reveal patterns and underpinning structures in the players attitudes towards snus.

Findings: The findings illustrate a significant engagement with snus among players, which correlates with both physical and psychological dependence as well as specific social behaviors in the sporting environment. The study highlights the complex interplay between health awareness and habitual use.

Conclusion: The thesis emphasizes the need for targeted health campaigns and support systems within football to address the use of snus. By aligning campaigns with the athletes' attitudinal realities, more effective health strategies can be developed, potentially reducing snus consumption among athletes.
