Abstract
This autoethnographic paper reflects on the early stages of turning a hobby in analog photography, into a professional career. Over the course of one year, I documented my experiences, challenges, and reflections as I progressed from hobbyist to a published photographer, working with clients such as Vogue Scandinavia, Elle Magazine, Soho House, and some of the biggest music festivals in Denmark amongst others. Drawing from personal insights, and supported by relevant theories, this essay explores the main elements that are helping me kickstart my career. The findings go over the most relevant milestones of the year, and the analysis relates those to the theoretical framework. Ultimately, this study reveals that the elements that have played the biggest role in my journey so far are the power of network, intuition, and social media amongst others.
