Managing Performance for Crisis Preparation

We are currently going through a global crisis that started with the COVID-19 pandemic, with consequences never seen before, and it has been predicted that other crises such as this will occur in the future. Considering the fact that workers are the key competitive advantage for organizations in today’s globalized world, and that they were that aspects of organizations that were most impacted by the recent crisis, at least at first, this study attempts to integrate the literature on crisis management and performance management, in an attempt to understand the role that motivating and coordinating employees plays in times of crises. This is done by conducting an integrative literature review, where the main concepts emerged are discussed. Additionally, literature on the transformative crisis management (TCM) approach, and principles of performance management, are used to identify how performance management can be a useful tool in helping organizations prepare for future crises.
