Abstract

This academic project Leadership of the YZ Generations focuses on the impact of Generation Y  and Z in the labor market and their view on leadership and work. It provides an in‐depth analysis of how Generation Y and Z are reshaping the dynamics of the labor market and leadership strategies in Denmark. The project combines a comprehensive literature review with quantitative data and qualitative interviews to explore the distinct characteristics, values and work expectations of these specific generations. The thesis delves into the challenges and opportunities faced by organizations in adapting to the generational shifts.
The master’s project emphasizes the importance of evolving leadership styles, creating engaging work environments and balancing Work‐Life aspects to effectively manage and retain Generation Y and Z employees. Additionally, it examines the role of technological advancements and cultural changes in shaping the attitude towards work among these generations.
The aim is to offer actionable insights for leaders and organizations to foster a more dynamic and inclusive workplace that resonates with the aspirations of the younger workforce. The aim is also to offer an understanding of the characteristics, values and expectations of Generation Y and Z and explore how organizations and leaders are able to adapt to retain and engage these generations as a more sustainable workforce.
