The main purpose of the thesis is to make an emperical analysis of the management companies of private equity funds, that have bought danish companies. However the existing litterature focusing on the performance of private equity funds, that have bought danish companies all focus on the performance of the funds all together, and not on the performance of the managemnt company behind the funds. The focus of the emperical analysis is therefore to evaluate the management companies on an individual basis. However due to the availability problems of data making it possible to estimate the profitability of an investment in the underlying funds of the managemnt companies, the analysis is conducted based on how well the management companies have been able to improve the performance of the companies bought in the years after the buyout. It is emphazised that several data issues limits the suitable data for the analysis heavily, leading to an benchmarking of only five management companies. Furthermore several criteria that effects the results of the analysis noticeable are set. The results are therefore to be judged accordingly.
