Abstract
The main objective of this research was to explore the relation between self-reflection and third generation coaching. The premise for this research was to perceive the coaching process as a learning process from David A. Kolb’s cycle of learning. The research found the coaching relation to be the bering element of the coaching process, how reflection contributes to the process of learning, and also how the appropriate disturbance in coachees’ system is crucial for coaching to be effective. These conclusions were reached through the phenomenological method IPA, which has a qualitative and inductive research approach. The empirical data was founded in three phenomenological interviews based on four prior coaching sessions. This research-project has contributed to the existing coaching literature by finding empirical statements, that supports the role of the coaching relationship, and how this relationship affects the process in different ways.
