What Does It Take to be a Changemaker? A Comprehensive Review of Social Entrepreneurship Competences

Research output: Contribution to conferencePaperResearchpeer-review

Abstract

The growing interest in social entrepreneurship has led to a nascent research interest into competences. This is the first systematical review on competencies needed for social entrepreneurship. From 51 studies emerged 15 competences grouped in impact competences, entrepreneurship competences, and engagement competences. Our findings provide several avenues for future research. For many of competences more conceptualization and operationalization are needed. Comprehensive measurement scales are required to research dependencies and trade-offs among competences, the level of competences needed by whom at which stage, their influence on the economic, environmental, and social performance as well as the societal impact of the venture.
