Abstract
This article deals with the phenomenon V2 and the postposition of the subject in Danish, old French, and modern French. Danish is a strict V2 language. Strongly inspired by the Germanic, the old French is also a V2 language, whereas modern French has evolved towards an SVO language. The author suggests a hypothesis that can explain this change.
