Abstract
During the Covid-19 pandemic numerous digital health applications have been launched to mitigate the effects of this extensive health crisis. However, most of these lack long-term orientation and therefore do not manage to sustain after their initial establishment. This observation is concerning for the criticality of achieving pandemic preparedness. In this study we address the issue of longevity in public health Information Systems (IS) and investigate the potential of stakeholder commitment as a tool to establish economic sustainability therein. Hereby we highlight the unique characteristics intrinsic to public health IS which require a new perspective on the role of commitment, unexplored before. Using semi-structured interviews as the next step in our study, we intent to identify relevant determinants of stakeholder commitment and offer solutions to the issue of longevity of public health IS.
