Abstract
This dissertation sets out to find the out:
1) How the Danish state has related to other actors working with Denmarkøs reputation (1945-2010).
2) What were the politics of reputation that the Danish state pursued in relation to the Soviet Union and the US during the cold war (1945-1988).
Discussing theories of how states relate to the reputation of their countries it is demonstrated that existing theories like nation branding, public diplomacy and soft power are not adequate for a historical analysis of how the Danish state has tried to conduct politics of reputation or how it has related to other actors working with the reputation of Denmark. Therefore this dissertation first sets out to create a conceptual framework for each of the questions to be investigated.
