Abstract

The chapter gives a historical review of the business model literature. The purpose of this chapter is to describe how different academics have thought about the business model (BM) through history. A very detailed story of the business model literature can be found in many of the sources refered to in the chapter. Previous BM concepts and related academic ideas on what a BM looks like are compared.
