Abstract
Based on eight video recordings of people meeting for the first time we ex-plore how the degree of explicitness "in body language", or gesturing, cor-relates with the communicated attitude (as perceived by annotators). We also discuss the significance of such investigations for the design and de-velopment of automatic conversational partners, such as embodied agents.
