Abstract
The aim of this research is to shed light on the implications of Additive Manufacturing (AM) adoption on relocation decisions and consequent impacts on supply chain (SC) resilience and sustainability. Built on an interview-based methodology, we provide practical examples of the adoption of AM that has led to decentralization of production activities and reshoring phenomena. Moreover, we link these changes on SC to the reactive and proactive capabilities of a firm, together with a qualitative assessment of the impacts on resource consumption, CO2 emissions and the possibility of setting-up circular economy programs.
