    Abstract

This paper deals with the Russian privatization program. The author analyses the philosophy and technicalities behind the different stages of the program and evaluates the results and shortcomings. The paper argues that both in terms of speed and scope Russian mass privatization stands out in a transition economy context. However, when it comes to genuine enterprise restructuring and the creation of an efficient corporate governance structure, progress has been rather disappointing.
