Abstract

At the peak of the COVID19 pandemic in mid-April 2020, according to UNESCO, about 1.5 billion children making up 90% of the world’s children were out of schools and universities. With schools in some parts of the world cautiously re-opening, it is a good time to understand how this pandemic has impacted this generation of learners from Generation Z (children born in the years 1995 to 2010) and Generation Alpha (children born from 2011 onwards). Generational research shows that the major life events in childhood and adolescence have a profound impact on shaping the values, attitudes and behaviours of that generation when they enter the workforce. So what kind of impact would COVID-19 have on the children from these generations?
