Abstract

The journal IFIP Select publishes “Mission statements” for already published IFIP research papers that “best” transfer relevant research knowledge to members of National Computer Societies around the world, and which supports UN activities and goals. This issue presents a selection of mission statements about the impact of research in topics related to learning, datadriven systems, human-drone interaction, and persuasive designs. These exemplifies the breadth of IFIP research’s impact by presenting mission statements on Education (TC3), Information Systems (TC8), Human-Computer Interaction (TC13), and Entertainment Computing (TC14). Each mission statement presented in this issue provides an overview of the research in the original paper behind the mission statement, and in this way gives incentives for those interested in seeking out the originals. In this editorial I briefly present each of the five mission statements and summarize their collective impact on society and their collective usefulness for UN activities.
