Abstract

The aim is to arrive at a supply oriented understanding of the business cycle of Bornholm. The region is peripheral and labour is mobile. The labour market is small, so sustainability of a diversified structure of trade and industry on the island can be questioned. The period analysed begins with years, where the fisheries and the related processing industry are hit by a negative chock. The present chapter looks at basic descriptive data on population, labour force and trade structure. Data for the decennium reveal negative trends for the supply of labour on Bornholm.
