Abstract

This chapter introduces the main concerns and themes of the book. It provides a brief overview of important developments and trends relating to the labour market and the organization of work as well as the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The chapter then sets out five themes that are addressed in the book: (1) inclusion and equality in work and employment; (2) the impact of technology on work and employment; (3) risks and regulation; (4) governance and representation; and (5) the economy and sustainability. Brief summaries are provided of the chapters that are included in the book.
