Abstract

The recent epidemic had a profound impact on organizations leaving many to find new ways to manage not only day to day activities but adjust their company strategy to the external environment. Resilience became the new buzz word and academics and executives were eager to explore the concept and process in more detail. To illustrate resilience during COVID-19 this chapter investigated two growing Icelandic tech companies, Controlant and Sidekick Health. The analysis is based on content analysis of published information from the companies’ websites and the media. Inward and outward resilience was considered and evaluated from the perspective of firms’ preparedness, agility, robustness and impact on society. The implication of the study is beneficial for other SMEs who can draw lessons from how innovation and flexibility can facilitate organizational resilience during disruptive times. The result of the analysis is of great importance since it provides new perspectives in helping companies grow in times of crisis.
