Abstract

The case was a copyright infringement dispute between the Danish fashion house Ganni A/S and the American company Steve Madden Ltd. The Danish Maritime and Commercial Court held that Ganni A/S’s Buckle Ballerina shoes qualify as original works of applied art and are therefore, capable of copyright protection.
