Creative Cognition and Entrepreneurship

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingBook chapterResearchpeer-review

Abstract

Entrepreneurial cognition is defined as knowledge structures that people use to make assessments, judgments, or decisions involving opportunity evaluation, venture creation, and growth. Although the topic of entrepreneurial cognition covers broader areas than creative cognition, several entrepreneurial cognitive mechanisms may fit under the creative cognition headline. This chapter reviews the links between creative cognition and entrepreneurial cognition on the topics of opportunity recognition, generative creativity, effectuation, and cognitive adaptability. Finally, the chapter covers how future research in creative cognition may draw inspiration from the entrepreneurship literature, and vice versa.
