Project Details
Description
Growing recognition of an ongoing ecological crisis and the need to operate within planetary
boundaries is challenging traditional assumptions in economics and business administration. While
some argue that existing economic frameworks can adapt to these challenges, there is a rising need
to broaden theoretical perspectives. This project takes the view that academia also needs to
broaden theoretical perspectives by developing a more interdisciplinary and economically pluralistic approach.
The project achieves this by supporting the development of
pluralism in theories and education currently scattered across research environments in Denmark;
theories that take planetary boundaries into account, and education that gives university
students values and skills to work with economic theories aligned with the planetary boundaries.
The overall aim of establishing a national platform for an economy within planetary boundaries is
to support the development of a more interdisciplinary and pluralistic economic approach by
strengthening collaboration among research, education, and policy.
The purpose of the three-month project phase is to prepare a full application for a subsequent two
year project phase. During the three months, the focus will be on building capacity for cross
university collaboration, supporting researchers and think tanks in developing research
applications, and establishing the organizational and strategic groundwork for the platform.
