Seed money, This project seeks to address the pressing global challenges resulting from the
climate crisis; to achieve climate neutrality, sustainability and resilience in peri
urban areas. The challenge that this project addresses and aims to solve is that
more than 68% of the global population is expected to live in urban areas by 2050
(UN, 2018). Peri-urban areas are located at the fringes of cities and often develop in
an unplanned or informal manner; therefore, they face challenges, including
ecological impacts due to a lack of regulatory oversight and weak governance which
leads to environmental degradation, deforestation, and pollution, high amounts of
waste and limited access to sustainable educational resources.
