Aim: This paper studies new contemporary organizational forms, more precisely co-creative organizations which have emerged in post-modern Danish society. Danish actors must engage, to a higher degree, in a socially active manner in order to improve well-being of society. Thus, current organizations play a significant role in ability to continuously reorganize and recombine resources in innovative and sustainable ways. Primary purpose is to determine 1. how co-creative organizations are organized, 2. in what way they are managed and 3. in which way it effects members of the organization. Furthermore, the paper aims to clarify if any potentials emerge through these new forms of organizations. Design, method and theory: Guided by our overall research question the chosen methodology is a qualitative single-case study design of the Danish digital consultancy Kvalifik as the main empirical material. The study takes its point of departure in two methods; observations and interviews. With two units of analysis it examines the case from two different theoretical groundwork: Governmentality by Michel Foucault and Sensemaking by Karl Weick. Findings: First part of the analysis reveals new types of governing mobilize subjects – members of organizations – towards a more co-creative engagement in which management generates through these co-creative organizations. Second part of the analysis reveals these new organizational forms are organized through sensemaking, personal relations and committed actions. The relations are characterized as loosely coupled enabling for improvisation and small wins, in which governs the direction of the organization. Paper concludes organizing through sensemaking and loosely coupled relations presents a potential to create more productive and happy workplaces in modern society.
