Abstract

The Mining sector plays an important role for the Chilean economy, yet its high-demand environment causes significant health and safety challenges for employees and organizations. Chilean mines have recognized the need of addressing health and safety concerns. This study explores the impact of safety and health strategies on employees well-being and the relationship between these initiatives and organizational outcomes. Implementing proactive health and safety strategies is not only helpful and beneficial for employees but it also results with positive organizational outcomes. This research investigates current practices in Chilean mining companies, specifically the balance between proactive safety measures and reactive health strategies. The aim of the study is to understand their complex relation and to recommend actionable strategies to improve health and safety practices in Chilean Mining industry. The findings demonstrate the importance of integrating comprehensive health and safety practices that prioritize both physical and mental well-being. The study provides actionable recommendations for the Chilean mining industry in terms of strategies and initiatives that can have positive outcomes.
