Abstract

With new instructive opportunities, several studies are reporting how research has been too preoccupied with the cognitive mind instead of focusing on the body as a center of knowledge. However, none have served the purpose of helping designers with recommendations for their instructive language. This paper derives from Design Science Research using multi-method for the data collection. The study uses eye-tracking observation to interpret and measure interaction seen from the participants perspective. Moreover, interviews to examine users inner experience that was not observable. The study will present and discuss findings of how designers’ instructive language becomes increasingly more difficult to comprehend when it operates with complex interaction, restrictions from the tool, and rules based on work context. This study is relevant for those that seek more clarify of the challenges that occur when designing embodied interfaces.
