This dissertation aims to form a theoretical foundation for the field of cultural business incubation. As the field of business incubation has merely existed in relation to high-tech industries, we aim to discuss the benefit of cultural business incubation, specified for the cultural industries. Through identifying the core differential characteristics between the high-tech industries and cultural industries, discrepancies are taken into account and merged with traditional business incubation theory to develop a proposed model. This proposed model serves as a framework to analyse seven cases studies from: Denmark, USA, UK, Australia, New Zealand, and Spain. This dissertation is aimed at current business incubator management and its potential as a beginning of academic theory in the field of cultural business incubation.
