Challenges of Implementing Advanced Carbon Capture Technology Into a District Heating Company

Abstract

The assignment presents the challenges in connection with Fjernvarme Fyn's implementation of a CO2 capture plant, which must be implemented in extension of a waste incineration plant. The German company, Linde, which is largely responsible for the implementation itself, but is solely responsible for the operation of the CO2 capture plant, causes great complexity in the project. The assignment aims to find a solution to the international and national challenges that may result in the project not being implemented successfully. The approach to theory is based on abduction where both theory and data are combined. The approach to the task uses elements from the project-based International Change Management approach. This involves a stakeholder analysis, risk assessment at macro, meso and micro levels, a strategic allocation and combination of identified risks and opportunities and finally a strategy that leads to the project being a success. The analysis results show that there are 4 significant elements that can affect the project and that Fjernvarme Fyn must consider.
