This thesis looks at the combination of the leadership role and the entrepreneur role in a small business. The owner of the business is also the CEO, and as a result has multiple roles to fill in the company. The research design is a single case study and the case company is Norway Fashion Group, a Norwegian clothing company. Through interviews with the two owners, one of them the functioning CEO, and key employees, data was gathered to explore the CEO’s roles and functions. Through leadership theory, entrepreneurial theory and theory on roles, mainly Mintzberg’s (1973) framework of managerial roles, these different roles and resulting role conflicts of the CEO were identified and discussed. The main findings support previous research in the fields of leadership and entrepreneurship in that there are overlaps between these two roles, and this thesis further discussed how they could best be combined.
