This thesis problem reflects the challenge that many Danish cooperative housing and Danish agriculture experience when they are using financial instruments such as swaps and currencyswaps. Today lots of cooperative housing is over mortaged and a lot of Danish farmers have so much debt that they’re never able to reduced it again unless the prices of soil, grain and meat rises in the nearest future. This thesis elucidates how swap and currencyswaps works in practice. I have made an economic model in the thesis which estimate swaprates, hoping it would clarify how such a contract works in practice. I have also made some calculations showing a real cooperative housings (unknown association from Copenhagen) use of a swap contract. The general indebtedness of the Danish cooperative housing and the agriculture will also be analyzed and I would analyze the future for the housing associations and the farmers business. One of the analyzes would be based on a survey from Epinion. The thesis would produce some factors which strengthen the future of the cooperative housing and which options there would be needed if the Danish agriculture in the future should be profitable. Finally the thesis would conclude which importance swap and currencyswaps has for the macroeconomic situation in Denmark. It’s not possible for the use of swap and currencyswaps to threaten the Danish economics. Probably we will see much more of bankruptcy in the future. Another financial factor which can be much more like a threat to the Danish economics than the use of swaps could be the interest-only loans. One of the biggest challenges of the swaps market is that no one exactly knows the volume of this problem.
