The purpose of this paper is to examine how the biopolotical landscape affects and creates the impostor phenomenon and how the impostor’s area of possibilities can be widened. In order to do so, we will use theory by Michel Foucault about biopolotics, dispositive and care of the self as well as protreptic by Ole Fogh Kirkeby. To examine the research question, the empirical research of this paper is based on 5 semistructured interviews, 20 job ads and several articles from different papers and channels. By analyzing our data we found that the biopolitical dispositive works through a dispositive about resilience and a dispositive about optimization. Through these dispositives, the meritocracy performs subtle biopower on the individual. This creates impostors, when the individual cannot live up to the standards of the dispositives. By using different self-care practices, it is possible for the individual to achieve a well-balanced self-realisation process and live an ethically driven life. It is through a self-care practice, that the impostor can acknowledge the vulnerability within and thereby create a balance between the resilient and the vulnerable. Also, care of the self can be performed in organisations by using protreptic principles.
