Supply Ecosystems in Arctic Offshore Operations: An Institutional Approach to Understanding Resilience

This in-depth, multiple qualitative case study explores how Arctic offshore operations ensure resilience and facilitate value-creating activities through supply ecosystems in response to contextual complexity. Data from semi-structured interviews, personal observations, and archival materials are interpreted through resilience theory and institutional logic and work approaches. The study develops a comprehensive understanding of how a supply ecosystem through operational practice can build resilience inside the system and create capabilities outside to help the environment adapt and restore. Ensuring operational resilience within supply ecosystems should be understood in terms of adaptation and transformation by focusing on persistence, change and unpredictability.
