    Abstrakt

The notion of the postmetropolis was introduced by the American urbanist Edward W. Soja to analyze a shift from metropolitan urbanization to regional urbanization. The postmetropolis is characterized by post‐Fordist industrial production, new divisions of labor, expansion beyond traditional urban geographical confines, intensified socioeconomic inequalities, and novel types of social control, as well as a rearrangement of the urban imaginary.
