Loving Christophe: Autoethnography, the Human and Business History Methods

Publikation: KonferencebidragPaperForskningpeer review

Abstract

In the paper, I argue for an emphasis on humanities in business history methods, and I posit that emotions and sociality constitute critical elements in the historian’s engagement with the past. Writing an autoethnographic business history, I show how collaboration, persistence, empathy, creativity, and even emotional attachment, such as love, become important methodological components and heuristics tools when historians engage with and write about the past.
