Resumé

In this study, we decompose the effects of T-shaped and A-shaped skills on process-related and business-related outcomes. We build on human capital, team composition and knowledge integration streams of literature to study different combinations of intrapersonal and interpersonal T-shaped and A-shaped skills within science-focused entrepreneurial teams of two people. We examine multi-source, secondary data on 153 U.S. Government-funded researchintensive ventures and find that combinations of intrapersonal and interpersonal T-shaped and Ashaped skills have differential effects on research performance and commercial performance. The results suggest that interpersonal integration of T-shaped and A-shaped skills produces more superior outcomes than intrapersonal integration.
