Abstract
Derived from the field of behavioural economic research, the policy approach of “nudging” has now been under discussion for some time. This approach, often described as a liberal, social or soft paternalism, seeks to engender changes in the behaviour of people with gentle nudges* as opposed to bans and commandments. This concept may also be able to open up new possibilities the field of financial consumer protection.
