Abstract
Organizations have found that seemingly tedious data problems arefundamentally business problems, and cannot be solved by the IT group alone.Data governance has received growing attention from both practitioners andacademics as a promising approach to solving these issues. While the datagovernance literature offer valuable contributions, these approaches all focus onisolated aspects and no systematic review exists. This paper presents a reviewof data governance literature, classifying authors, journals, research disciplines, methods and related theoretical fields, providing researchers with an overviewof this emerging field. The paper is concluded by discussing implications andsuggestions for future research.
