Beskrivelse
Chinese investment and public policy in a changing Europe contributes to a broad research
agenda aimed at understanding the geo-economic forces and dynamics driving Chinese investment in
across the European continent. The existing literature has generally offered a “snapshot” of investment
trends at a particular moment. In contrast, this project adopts a dynamic perspective that seeks to
evaluate shifts and changes over time and, in particular, the ways in which Chinese investment is being
moulded and reshaped by shifts within China as well as the changes wrought across Europe in recent
decades by successive exogenous shocks, changing ideological and partisan alignments, economic
strains and uncertainties, the tightening of investment screening processes, the securitization of core
technologies, as well as the pressures from different administrations in Washington DC. The project
thereby considers a core element defining relations between China and European countries such as
Denmark and thereby has the potential to influence current scholarship and commentaries as well
policymaking processes.
