China – Friend or Foe? How Europe and Denmark Navigate a New World Order

The project investigates how China affects Europe and Denmark economically, geopolitically, and
strategically. China’s rise cannot be understood from a single angle, and this project therefore
approaches the topic through multiple lenses. At the economic level, we analyze the structure and
sustainability of the Chinese growth model, including innovation, industrial policy, market
dynamics, and supply-chain dependencies. At the geopolitical level, we examine how China’s
technological ambitions, global investments, and trade policies influence Europe’s and Denmark’s
room for maneuver. Together, these perspectives clarify how developments in China impact the
European and Danish economies, industrial competitiveness, and long-term economic security.
